Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is the highly anticipated 2022 first-person shooter game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. The game is a sequel and replacement to the original hero shooter Overwatch, released in 2016. Overwatch 2 aims to provide players with a shared environment for both player-versus-player (PvP) modes and persistent cooperative modes. One of the biggest changes in Overwatch 2's PvP modes is the reduction of team sizes from six to five players. This change is expected to make matches more intense and strategic, as players will have to make more calculated decisions and work more closely together to achieve victory.

In addition to the change in team size, several major characters have been reworked for Overwatch 2. These changes include new abilities and play styles, which will bring fresh challenges to players who have grown familiar with the original Overwatch roster. Another exciting aspect of Overwatch 2 is its free-to-play availability on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Players can also enjoy full cross-platform play, which means that they can compete with friends and players across different platforms without any restrictions. While the original Overwatch was well-received by gamers worldwide, the sequel is expected to take the experience to the next level with its updated graphics, refined gameplay, and new cooperative modes. As a result, Overwatch 2 is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, and fans of the franchise are eagerly looking forward to its full release. With early access already available for players, the excitement and anticipation for Overwatch 2 are only set to grow.

HERO UPDATES

All Heroes

  • All heroes have new Ultimate Voice Lines
  • Keep 50% of Ultimate Charge when swapping heroes

Developer Comment: Veteran players have an advantage over newer ones when it comes to voice line recognition. In order to level the playing field, we've written and recorded new Ultimate voice lines for every hero.

To help players learn these new callouts, we've also increased the amount of Ultimate charge retained when swapping heroes.

Tank Role Passive

  • Gain Ultimate charge 10% faster
  • The hero that gets the final blow on a tank gains a significant amount of ultimate charge

Developer Comment: Tank heroes are the raid bosses of teams. You should be fairly rewarded for defeating them, right?

Damage Role Passive

  • Heal 50 health on elimination

Developer Comment: It’s frustrating when you dive the backline by yourself and get no healing, especially when your team’s support heroes are busy respawning. This change should help keep you alive, at least.

Support Role Passive

  • Gain 30% increased movement speed for 4 seconds when reaching low health

Dev Comment: It’s tough to stay alive when flankers are about. This change should even out the odds a bit when you get ambushed. Please don’t use this offensively.

Overwatch 2 April fools update

Overwatch 2 players are always concerned about balance and fairness in the game, so when some players saw new patch notes with wacky changes, they were initially concerned. However, it turns out that the patch notes were just a draft for an April Fools’ joke, which included some wild changes to the game. One of the most significant changes included giving every hero a new Ultimate voice line, which could be confusing for veteran players who are used to the classic lines. For instance, instead of hearing Reinhardt say “hammer down,” he might start singing Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” as a signal for his ultimate ability.

Other changes included making Ramattra only exist in his hulking monstrosity form and allowing Reinhardt to fly when charging, among other things. While these changes may seem ridiculous, some of them could actually make for interesting gameplay experiences. For instance, Tracer’s Recall ability now pulls enemies into her original location with a vacuum, making for some fun plays. There were also some more reasonable changes that players have been asking for, like Ana’s rifle being capable of headshots and Genji being able to self-heal when using the “I need healing” voice line. Overall, the April Fools’ patch notes were just a joke, but it’s interesting to see the kinds of changes that players might be interested in. While some of the changes were wacky, others could make for some exciting gameplay experiences.
