Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2, a first-person shooter released in 2022 by Blizzard Entertainment, serves as the sequel and replacement to the 2016 hero shooter, Overwatch. The game initially aimed to provide a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes, with plans to introduce cooperative modes, but these plans were later abandoned in 2023. The focus shifted to enhancing the PvP elements. Notable changes included reducing team sizes from six to five, and several major characters underwent reworks.
The game's early access phase began on October 4, 2022, featuring a free-to-play model on platforms such as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Full cross-platform play was a highlight, fostering a diverse gaming community. Blizzard officially released the game on August 10, 2023, dropping the early access label with the introduction of Overwatch 2's sixth season. Overwatch 2 continues to engage players in its dynamic multiplayer mode, offering an exciting and accessible gaming experience across various platforms.

Overwatch 2 Gameplay
Overwatch 2 is a hero shooter game where players form teams and pick a "hero" from a roster of 35 characters. These heroes are grouped into three classes: "damage" for offense, "support" for healing and buffs, and "tank" for creating space. Each hero has unique skills, including active, passive, and ultimate abilities. The game focuses on player versus player (PvP) combat in various modes and maps, offering both casual and ranked competitive matches.
In the new version, the original six-player team setup was changed to five players, with one less tank. This adjustment aimed to make the gameplay faster and more dynamic. Characters received visual updates to show the passage of time since the first game. The game introduces a new PvP mode called "Push," a tug-of-war style where teams compete to control a robot pushing a payload to the opponent's side.
Overwatch 2 abandoned the premium model and loot boxes in favor of a free-to-play approach. A battle pass system replaces loot boxes and offers seasonal rewards, including new maps and heroes. The in-game store lets players directly purchase cosmetics. Cross-progression allows sharing of cosmetic items and progress between PC and consoles.
In Season 6, story-based PvE missions were added to advance the game's lore. These missions, similar to previous short-term events, are free during specific seasons but can be purchased separately. Hero Mastery missions were also introduced to help players improve their skills with specific heroes. Blizzard Battle.net account is required, and competitive skill ratings are platform-specific.
