Persona 5 Tactica is a strategy game made by P-Studio and published by Sega. It's part of the Persona series, which is a bigger part of the Megami Tensei franchise. The game came out on November 17, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
In Persona 5 Tactica, the story happens at the same time as Persona 5 (2016). It follows the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, who find themselves in a different world filled with war and oppression. They team up with a group called the Rebel Corps to fight against the Legionnaires, who are in charge. Persona 5 Tactica Fuse Early
Once you finish the first few main missions, Lavenza opens the Velvet Room. She gives you a few Personas to use and start combining new ones. Like in previous games, you choose two Personas to make a new one, but this time only one skill comes with it. You do this in the Velvet Room by selecting "Fuse New Persona." You can access the Velvet Room in the Hideout or before battles when picking your party.
Apart from your main Personas, all other Personas have two skills: a Unique skill (unique to that Persona) and an Inherited skill. Inherited skills can be passed to other Personas through fusion. When fusing, you pick one Inherited skill from the two fused Personas for the new Persona.
With this system, only one skill from a Persona can be passed, and Unique skills are tied to a Persona, possibly lost through fusion unless summoned from the Compendium or fused again. New Personas may have different Inherited skills, so always check for powerful ones to pass along.

Persona 5 Tactica Guide
In Persona 5 Tactica, you won't have access to the Velvet Room right from the beginning of the game. You need to play and reach the point where you have to rescue Ann and Futaba for it to be unlocked.
The story takes place in an alternate metaverse within Toshiro’s mind. Lavenza, a character in the game, has to build a Fusion device from scratch. This means you'll only gain access to Fusion and different Personas after rescuing Ann and Futaba from Marie’s mind control.

Persona 5 Tactica is a spinoff game that doesn't quite match the epic feel of Persona 5 Royal for me, but it's still enjoyable to reconnect with favorite characters. The game's grid-based combat system, while not as impactful as the original JRPG, showcases Atlus' expertise in creating strategic battles.
Set between the second and third semesters of Persona 5 Royal, Tactica assumes familiarity with the story, making it less suitable for newcomers. The art style, featuring partially chibi-fied characters, took some getting used to, but the Persona 5 aesthetic shines through. The menu screens and imaginative Kingdoms maintain the series' unique flair, even if some locations, like Leblanc, appear a bit different. Overall, while not a replacement for the main game, Tactica offers a chance to dive back into the Persona universe.
