Pokemon Black and White 2  Gameplay

Similar to previous installments, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 offer two main types of gameplay: overworld exploration and battles. During overworld exploration, the player controls the main character from a top-down perspective, interacts with non-playable characters, and searches for items and Pokémon. On the other hand, battles require the player to send out their Pokémon and use their moves to reduce the opponent's Pokémon health points to zero, with moves that can have different effects like attacking, buffing, debuffing, or inflicting status conditions.

Taking place two years after the events of Black and White, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 have new locations on the western side of the Unova region with over 300 unique Pokémon available from the beginning of the game, including ones that were not previously available in Black and White.

In addition, Pokémon Dream Radar, a downloadable game for the Nintendo 3DS, is compatible with Black 2 and White 2. This game introduces the character Professor Burnet and offers alternate forms for Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus that can be transferred to Black 2 and White 2 after capturing them in Dream Radar. The Dream World from Pokémon Black and White also makes a comeback, but it was discontinued in 2014 along with all other fifth generation game services. Furthermore, the mythical Pokémon Keldeo has a new Resolute form in the game

Pokemon Black and White 2 Wiki

Developed by Game Freak, Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 are role-playing video games that were released in 2012 for the Nintendo DS. As part of the fifth generation of Pokémon video games, these games serve as direct sequels to the original Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, making them the first sequels in the franchise. The games were initially launched in Japan in June 2012, followed by a worldwide release in October of the same year. These were also the last first-party games for the Nintendo DS system.

In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, players follow the journey of a Pokémon trainer who seeks to become the Pokémon Champion of Unova, which is set two years after the events of the previous games. The storyline involves the return of the criminal organization, Team Plasma, now known as Neo Team Plasma, and the player must prevent them from taking over the world. The games come with new features such as the Key System, Hidden Grottoes, new cities, and an expanded list of Pokémon available for players to catch. As with other core series Pokémon games, players need to trade between versions to complete their Pokédex.

It's worth noting that there is no "Pokémon Grey" game due to the title's clash with the theme of opposites present in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. Furthermore, this decision was made to surprise players who expected Game Freak to follow the same naming pattern as previous titles. Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 received generally positive reviews from critics. While the games were commended for introducing new features and improvements over the original, they were criticized for a lack of innovation.
