“There’s absolutely discussion now in Wales, saying, ‘Hey, maybe things have changed to the point that we need this, and how do we do that?’” said the chief administrator of the Bering Strait School District Susan Nedza.

The mauling stopped temporarily, and the animal turned on them, and they rushed inside. The Principal slammed the door in the face of the bear, saving lives, according to Susan Nedza.
Susan said, "The polar bear was chasing them and tried to get in as well. Just horrific. ... Something you never think you would ever experience."

The family lived at the school temporarily when they were fixing electrical problems in their home, says a post on a GoFundMe fundraising site set to help the family in the face of tragedy and heartbreak.
The post said, "We ask that you respect their privacy in this period of immense grief."
