PUBG Lite is an online, free-to-play multiplayer battle royale FPS game developed and published by PUBG Studios, a subsidiary of the South Korean video game company Krafton. It uses the same Unreal Engine 4 as the original Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and allows players with low-spec PCs to experience the game for free.

Initially known as Project Thai, it was released as a closed beta in Thailand on January 24, 2019. It was later made available in nine Southeast Asian countries, with more to come in the future. The game featured two of PUBG's classic maps, Erangel and Miramar, with new content regularly released through updates every two weeks.

Official support for the game ended on April 16, 2020, after a final content update was released, as stated in a developer letter. The game servers were ultimately shut down on April 29, 2021.

Pubg Lite Gameplay

PUBG is a multiplayer shooter game where players play against each other in a battle royale. Players can choose to play alone or in teams of up to four, with the objective being to remain the last person or team alive. The game takes place on one of eight maps, each with its own size and terrain, and begins with players parachuting from a plane to their chosen location.

Players start with no gear, but can search buildings and other sites for weapons, vehicles, armor, and other equipment, which are distributed randomly across the map. Players can play in either first-person or third-person perspective, with each having its own advantages and disadvantages in combat and situational awareness. The playable area of the map shrinks every few minutes towards a random location, forcing players to move closer together and increasing the likelihood of encounters.

Players caught outside the safe area take damage and are eventually eliminated if they do not enter the safe zone in time. Random regions of the map are highlighted and bombed, posing a threat to players who remain in that area. At the end of each round, players earn in-game currency based on their performance, which can be used to purchase crates containing cosmetic items for character or weapon customization.

The game also includes a rotating "event mode" that changes the normal game rules, such as establishing larger teams or squads or altering the distribution of weapons and armor across the game map. On average, a full round takes no more than 30 minutes.

Pubg Versions

Tencent Games and PUBG Corporation announced plans to release two mobile versions of the game in China after a successful publication deal for the Windows version. The first mobile game, PUBG: Exhilarating Battlefield, is a shortened version of the original and was developed by Tencent's LightSpeed & Quantum Studio.

The second, PUBG: Army Attack, includes more arcade-style elements and was developed by Tencent's Timi Studio. Both mobile versions were released for Android and iOS devices on February 9, 2018, and had a combined total of 75 million pre-registrations. Following a soft launch in Canada, PUBG Mobile was released worldwide on March 19, 2018.

In China, the game was only available as a public test due to government approval issues, which prompted Tencent to release a modified version of the game called Game for Peace to comply with content restrictions. A lower-end version of the game, PUBG Mobile Lite, was released on July 25, 2019. On May 6, 2021, Krafton announced the relaunch of the game in India as Battlegrounds Mobile India, which will be directly published by Krafton instead of Tencent.
