Based on the well-known online novel Karada Sagashi, the Japanese teen horror movie Re/Member is available on Netflix. In order to remove the curse and live to see another day, the six high school kids who are caught in the story's deadly time loop must locate the dismembered remains of a murder victim, according to reports from Digital Spy. A young romance featuring Asuka (Kanna Hashimoto), a misfit teen, and the diverse group of teens who come together in the face of impending death are interspersed among the monotonous violent evenings.
Although the narratives of the two stories are cohesive, the two very different genres clash in a way that makes them feel unnecessarily campy. But, there is always a top to every pot, and many spectators will love this movie, particularly in light of its confusing conclusion. So, exactly what did that mean? To find out, keep reading.
Re/Member Ending Explained
If they are successful, Asuka sobs as she tells Takahiro, the man she loves, that she will forget about him. Takahiro offers Asuka his tie clip and assures her that he will return to her. Asuka explains her hypothesis that the new monster's head contains the small girl's head. She's accurate! The head falls out when the teens cut up the monster. Thankfully, Asuka is able to place the head in the coffin even though everyone else is devoured that night except for her. Everyone is alive and back to normal on July 6 the next day. But, no one can recall what happened.
Asuka learns from the news that a construction worker found human remains in the unsettling well near her school, according to reports from Decider. They are all chosen to serve on a school committee even though none of the teenagers can recall ever being pals. Asuka misplaces Takahiro's tie clip on the way to their meeting. Takahiro snatches it up and appears to recall everything all of a sudden. Asuka is informed that he has located her and is giving her the pin back. Asuka grinned, appearing to remember as well. The movie comes to a close with that.
Re/Member Plot
The movie opens with a little girl fleeing from a mysterious man with an axe. A credits sequence tells us that she was murdered in 1947 and that there was a "body search" for her remains. Asuka Morisaki (played by Kanna Hashimoto) is a shy, lonely high school student who is seeing creepy visions. She is sucked into a time loop with five other students and is transported to their school's chapel at night, where they are brutally murdered by a monster they call the Red Person, according to reports from Decider. The teens are trapped in a "Body Search" and must find all the body parts and return them to the coffin to break the spell.
To do this, they search the house where the little girl died in 1947 and find her doll hidden in the wall. However, when they wake up the next day, Rie is not there and no one outside of the time loop has heard of her. The teens determine that by finding the doll, they woke up this new monster and if they get eaten by it, they will be erased from existence. The pressure is on to find the head and break the curse.
Re/Member Netflix Ending Explained
How come Asuka's name is in the papers, then? She wasn't cruelly murdered when she was 8 years old, right? She grew up to be a lonely adolescent who assisted in breaking a time loop curse. or wasn't she? Could Asuka have been a ghost the entire time? After all, she had access to sites that the other pupils did not, such as maggots on the portrait of Miko Onoyama in the school library. After a vicious rumor that she was fabricating the illness that kept her out of school, she also talked about feeling invisible. “After I got better and went back to school, nobody would even talk to me anymore,”she said to Takahiro, according to reports from Decider.
Is that because kids are bad, or is it because Asuka is a ghost kid? Or is Asuka simply cursed in the same manner that Miko, the little girl, was cursed? In an obvious attempt to pique interest in a potential sequel, the film makes no mention of it. But, I think Asuka is a ghost. The manga Karada Sagashi Kai came to an end in 2017, and there are currently no updates on a sequel. We'll just have to wait and see for now.
