Who are the Secret Companions in Rogue Trader?

In Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, secret companions are special characters that join your party based on your chosen Conviction (Dogmatic, Heretical, or Iconoclast). They become available during Act 4 and require your Conviction to be at least Votary level. Notably, you can recruit only one secret companion per playthrough due to Conviction constraints. These companions affect your gameplay, providing distinct combat benefits aligned with your chosen Conviction. Below are the companions one can recruit them based on their level

  • Prologue Companions: Abelard Wersarian, Idira Tlass, and Sister Argenta can be recruited during the game's prologue aboard the Voidship.
  • Act One Companions: Pasqal Haneumann, Heinrix, and Cassia Orsellio are recruitable during various quests on different worlds, like Rykard Minoris and Eurac V.
  • Act Two Companions: Jae and Yrliet Lanaevyss can be recruited from locations like Footfall and Janus, following specific interactions and quests.
  • Act Three Companions:

    • Ulfar: Found in the Anatomical Opera during Act Three, requires specific dialogue choices during Arena Battles to persuade and recruit.
    • Marazhai: Also in the Anatomical Opera, requires precise dialogue choices and surviving waves of enemies to persuade and recruit.

Each companion has unique abilities and strengths, so recruiting them involves completing specific quests or dialogue interactions at particular points in the game.

How to Recruit the Secret Companions Rogue Trader?

To bring in secret companions in Rogue Trader, focus on one of three beliefs: Dogmatic, Heretical, or Iconoclast. As you strengthen your conviction, these companions will consider joining you. Once your belief reaches a certain level, these hidden allies may agree to join your party. However, committing to one belief level locks the others, limiting the number of secret companions you can recruit in a playthrough. If you pursue the Heretical path strongly, some existing companions might leave your group by Act 4.

Rogue Trader Gameplay

Rogue Trader, similar to games like Pathfinder: Kingmaker, is an isometric RPG centered on a d100 TTRPG system. Players lead a party of six characters through ground combat and social interactions in a turn-based setting with an isometric view. A standout feature is the realm-building aspect, where choices made as a Rogue Trader profoundly influence the evolving space empire.

The game also incorporates space combat and supports cooperative multiplayer. The game offers an adventure in the hazardous Koronus Expanse aboard a personal void ship. Decision-making extends from quests to character creation, altering the in-game world and its inhabitants. As players gather a diverse crew, including heroes, psykers, and xenos, they can guide their companions' personal journeys.

Tactical combat, governed by the Rogue Trader ruleset, offers numerous strategic possibilities utilizing cover and abilities to secure victory in battles. A time-limited DLC, available until January 31st, 2024.
