Baldur's Gate 3 Plot

In the year 1492 DR, more than 120 years have transpired since the events chronicled in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. This timeframe comes after the incidents depicted in Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, only a few months later. Once again, the currents of malevolence are stirring. The pivotal character, whose identity is shaped by the player, becomes ensnared in a dire predicament caused by the mind flayers.

These malevolent creatures have launched a full-scale invasion of Faerûn, wielding illithid tadpoles—parasitic organisms with the capability to ensnare and transmute their victims into their own kind, fellow mind flayers.

However, in the midst of the impending transformation, a tumultuous clash intervenes. Githyanki warriors, in league with their red dragon allies, launch an assault on the very nautiloid flying vessel that harbors the protagonist and others similarly afflicted.

This marks the inception of a harrowing odyssey spanning diverse realms, including the Nine Hells' primary dominion, Avernus. Amidst the chaos of this battle, the protagonist seizes a moment of liberation. Wresting control over the faltering vessel, they navigate it back to Faerûn, where it eventually crashes.

The ensuing narrative focuses on the protagonist's quest to rid themselves of the parasitic intruders. Along the way, they cross paths with fellow survivors hailing from the wreckage: Gale, a human adept in the arcane arts; Shadowheart, a half-elf cleric; Astarion, a high elf adept at skullduggery; Wyll, a human possessing warlock abilities; Lae'zel, a githyanki fighter; and Karlach, a tiefling known for their barbaric prowess.
