Saw Movie
"Saw" Directed by James Wan in his directorial debut, is a 2004 horror movie written by Leigh Whannell and based on a story by Wan and Whannell. Starring Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter, Michael Emerson, Ken Leung, and Leigh Whannell, the movie centers on the Jigsaw Killer's lethal puzzles that challenge his targets' determination to stay alive.
The main story focuses on two of Jigsaw's victims played by Whannell and Elwes who wake up in a rundown bathroom and must face a gruesome challenge to save their lives. Originally written in 2001, "Saw" failed to get produced in Australia, so Whannell and Wan shot a low-budget short film of the same name in Los Angeles to attract producers.
The movie was made on a small production budget and was shot in just 18 days. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2004 and was released in North America by Lionsgate on October 29, 2004. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film grossed over $100 million worldwide, becoming one of the most profitable horror films since 1996's "Scream." The movie was re-released in select theaters on its tenth anniversary in 2014, and the first sequel, "Saw II," was released in 2005.
Saw Ending Explained
Adam and Gordon are being watched through a hidden camera by a captor while Alison and Diana are being held captive in their apartment. Tapp, who has become obsessed with the Jigsaw case, watches the house and remains convinced that Gordon is the killer. Gordon finds a box containing cigarettes, a lighter, and a one-way cell phone, and recounts his abduction in a parking garage.
Adam recalls being abducted when he returned home and discovered a puppet in his darkroom. Alison warns her husband not to believe Adam, who admits to spying on Gordon for Tapp and reveals his knowledge of Gordon's affair with a medical student. Gordon deduces that the affair is why he is being tested. Gordon identifies Alison and Diana's captor as Zep Hindle, a hospital orderly.
At 6 o'clock, Zep attempts to kill Alison and Diana, but Alison manages to break free and fights back, prompting Tapp to come to their rescue. Tapp chases Zep to the sewers, where he shoots him. In desperation, Gordon saws off his foot and shoots Adam with the corpse's revolver. Zep enters the bathroom to kill Gordon, but Adam bludgeons him to death with a toilet tank lid.
John Kramer, the true identity of the Jigsaw Killer, is unveiled when the body in the room comes to life. He tells Adam that the key to his ankle chain was in the bathtub, which went down the drain when Adam first awoke. Adam attempts to shoot John with Zep's gun, but John electrically shocks him through his chain and leaves him to die.
Saw Movie Review
Saw is a horror movie that is known for its gruesome violence and shocking plot twists. The film follows two men, Adam and Gordon, who wake up chained in a bathroom with no memory of how they got there. As they try to escape, they discover that they are part of a sadistic game orchestrated by a serial killer known as the Jigsaw Killer.
The plot twists in Saw Film are some of the best in horror movie history, with the revelation of John Kramer, the Jigsaw Killer, as the corpse in the bathroom being particularly memorable. The film keeps the audience guessing until the end, and the final twist is both surprising and horrifying.
The violence in Saw is not for the faint of heart, and the movie is not recommended for those who are easily disturbed. However, for horror fans who enjoy a good scare and a well-crafted plot, Saw is a must-watch. The movie spawned a successful franchise, but the original remains the strongest entry and a classic of the horror genre.
