Sepultura, a renowned heavy metal band hailing from Brazil, was founded in 1984 by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera. The group played a pivotal role in shaping the groove metal, thrash metal, and death metal genres during the late 1980s and early 1990s. While the band experienced various lineup changes over its 39-year career, the current roster includes vocalist Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Jr., and drummer Eloy Casagrande.
Despite the departures of Max and Igor Cavalera in 1996 and 2006, respectively, Sepultura continued to evolve, incorporating influences from alternative metal, world music, nu metal, hardcore punk, and industrial metal. Their extensive discography spans fifteen studio albums, with their most successful records including "Beneath the Remains" (1989), "Arise" (1991), "Chaos A.D." (1993), and "Roots" (1996). In March 2024, after four decades of musical innovation, Sepultura is set to embark on a year-and-a-half long farewell tour.
