Sharper Ending Explained

Sharper followed Max (Sebastian Stan) and Madeline (Julianne Moore) as they deceived many wealthy people throughout Manhattan. However, things took an awkward turn when Madeline decided to marry billionaire Richard Gibbs (John Lithgow). This resulted in an untimely scuffle between her and her former lover, Max, who resorted to hiring Sandra (Brianna Middleton) and enlisting the help of Richard's son Tom (Justice Smith).

The plot was full of twists, but the film began to build up to the ending after Richard died and Madeline inherited a large fortune, with only Tom being the other rightful heir. Madeline agreed to take Sandra to Max after attempting to bribe her with money. When Sandra and Madeline arrived at Max's house, Tom arrived in a car with a private investigator who had apparently followed them to the remote location.

Sharper Movie Ending Explained

Following a scuffle in which tensions between Madeline and Tom grew, Tom pulled a gun on the former. Sandra shot Tom dead as a result of the scuffle. Following this development, Madeline became terrified and decided to donate the entire sum to the foundation Tom ran. She, along with Max and Sandra, fled the area and went into hiding in Los Angeles. Sandra was still supposed to get all of the money even though Tom was no longer alive.

However, this is where the film's final twist occurs. When Sandra went to the restroom on the plane, Madeline and Tom realised something crucial. The blood spot on Madeline's sleeve from Tom's accidental shooting wasn't blood at all. When Madeline went to check the restroom, she discovered that Sandra was not present.

Madeline and Max realised Sandra had betrayed them and staged the entire thing with Tom. The private investigator and the gun were all part of the elaborate scheme that resulted in Tom receiving all of the money.

It turned out that Sandra had previously told everything to Tom after she felt bad for breaking his heart. They then planned out this big con to take away the entire fortune. The final sequence of Sharper sees Sandra ask Tom to dinner.

Sharper Movie Recap

It was the darkest period of his life, with panic attacks and suicidal thoughts dominating his thoughts. After everything he had been through, Sandra was a breath of fresh air. Despite the fact that they had only known each other for a short time, she became an important part of his life. They used to spend most of their nights together in Sandra's apartment, and one night her brother knocked on the door, demanding money. Sandra was embarrassed by her brother's actions, but she couldn't entirely blame him. Sandra and her brother were moved from one foster family to another after their parents died, and her brother eventually fell into the wrong company.

Even though she refused to put up with him any longer, she couldn't deny that he was her only family. Tom's family situation was also not ideal; his father had recently married and was quite ill. He didn't get along well with his father, which was reason enough not to introduce Sandra to his family.

Sharper Movie Review

Tom (Justice Smith, a sympathetic sap in this case) works in a modest, quiet New York bookstore. His synapses light up when Sandra (Briana Middleton) appears, looking for an old classic. He's lost and lonely, she's all sweet smiles and empathy, and they soon fall in love and enjoy a blissful relationship until trouble arises. Her brother requires a lot of money and Tom believes he can assist. From there, a film that had been a sweet millennial meet-cute for ten minutes turns into a con drama in which nobody is what they seem, everyone is taken for a fool, and people are double, triple, quadruple-crossed to dizzying degrees.

So we've got a good cast and crew chewing on thorny material. Sharper, on the other hand, is a somewhat vapid affair, the shaggiest of dogs, with revelations that feel like shrugs and coincidences that feel like contrivances. There's enough to keep your attention. It's amusing here and there in its silliness and watching this isn't boring but there's something missing. It's all plot and not nearly enough humanity. It would be far more effective if we were given more reasons to care about these people or what happens to any of them. If you're looking for a good yarn, this is it. But that's all.
