Shrek 2

"Shrek 2" is a 2004 American animated comedy, loosely adapted from William Steig's 1990 children's book. Directed by Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury, and Conrad Vernon, it follows the adventures of Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona, voiced by Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz respectively.

The sequel introduces new characters like Puss in Boots, voiced by Antonio Banderas, and expands on the first film's storyline, with the Fairy Godmother plotting to ruin Shrek and Fiona's marriage. Development began in 2001, with changes in the writing team and improvements in animation technology.

Lead actors received substantial pay raises. Like its predecessor, "Shrek 2" parodies fairy tale films and includes references to popular culture. Dedicated to William Steig, the film premiered at Cannes in May 2004, earning rave reviews and immense box office success, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2004 and DreamWorks Animation's top earner. It received Academy Award nominations and spawned sequels and spin-offs.
