Street Fighter 6 Tier List Characters

S-tier Characters

Ken

Ken has consistently received top ratings since the beta phase and remains incredibly popular. He excels as an aggressive character, making him one of the best choices in the game. Despite his widespread appeal and ease of play, Ken remains a formidable force, suggesting he may be overpowered.

JP

JP, the new villain in Street Fighter 6, epitomizes an oppressive zoner, causing frustration for many players. Renowned players like Sonicfox have already adopted him as their main, thanks in part to his historically broken counter that cannot be beaten by grabs.

Luke

Luke has been positioned as the face of SF6, serving as the Ryu for a new generation of players. He is easy to pick up, effective at all ranges, and was ranked number one on the tier list by notable players such as Tokido, Mago, and Gachikun. Since then, he has only improved and appears to be a permanent fixture at the top of the SF6 metagame. MenaRD, the winner of CEO, also co-mains Luke alongside his Blanka.

Juri

Juri stands out as one of the best offensive threats and excels as a slow fireball character. She frequently appears in Top 8 matches and has set herself apart from similar characters like Cammy and Kimberly in terms of playstyle.

Dee Jay

With outstanding mobility, feints, one of the fastest Drive Rushes, and an overall impressive kit, Dee Jay deserves his place in the S-tier. Many top players have highly rated him, but mastering him at the highest levels requires exceptional execution skills. If you enjoy playing Dee Jay, stick with it, as he seems to be a worthwhile investment of time.

A-tier Characters

Guile

Guile was previously considered the best zoner in SF6 but now faces competition from JP for that top spot. With his straightforward execution, gameplan, and exceptional defensive capabilities, Guile is an excellent choice for players who want to excel as a zoner without facing the same level of criticism as JP mains or putting in as much effort as Dhalsim players.

Cammy

Cammy is accustomed to being a dominant choice in the Street Fighter series, and while she may not be as overpowered in SF6, she remains a formidable character. She has gained popularity in the competitive scene, with notable pros like Punk/Pink and Justin Wong opting for her. The initial community perception that her damage output is too low has been surpassed by her dedicated player base.

Manon

Manon has emerged as a sudden contender, attracting the attention of top players like Sticky Fingers. As a grappler with potent footsie capabilities, Manon offers reliability, versatility, and one of the most impressive resource systems in the game. Prepare to witness a multitude of medal victories and formidable performances.

Blanka

As we predicted in our previous notes, Blanka continues to climb the ranks. MenaRD, who played Blanka during the Grand Finals of CEO 2023 (though he also used Luke throughout the rest of the tournament), showcased the potential of this Brazilian menace. Some argue that Blanka is currently a knowledge check, but we believe he possesses enough legitimate tools to justify his high placement.

E. Honda

E. Honda has burst onto the scene with great impact, with many players considering him one of the best characters in the game. While we hesitate to label him S-tier just yet, as players become more experienced and adapt to his playstyle, his dominance may wane. Nevertheless, we are keeping a close eye on his performance.

Kimberly

Kimberly currently reigns as the best rushdown character, boasting incredible mobility and mix-up potentialDespite undergoing nerfs prior to release, she remains a formidable choice. While she possesses one of the best punish games, her neutral game relies on some gimmicks, prompting us to place her in the A-tier as players learn to recognize her limited options.

Chun-Li

As always, Chun-Li offers one of the highest skill ceilings in terms of mechanical execution, making her a constant threat at the top level. However, in the early stages of SF6's metagame, it remains to be seen if the effort required to master her is worthwhile.

B-tier Characters

Marisa

Marisa has exceeded expectations since her initial reveal, proving to be much stronger than anticipated. Currently, she is a solid choice due to her ease of use and armor. However, as players gain more experience, her simpler game plan may limit her strength. That being said, considering the impressive performances of players like Angry Bird at the highest levels (check out Kumite), Marisa may deserve a higher tier, but more data is needed to confirm.

Dhalsim

Dhalsim typically thrives as an SF title ages, and the same can be expected for SF6. While JP and Guile have stolen the spotlight for zoners, be prepared for Dhalsim's inevitable rise due to his inherent nature as the stretchy yoga man.

Ryu

Ryu remains a solid, well-rounded character with an excellent projectile game. In capable hands, he can shine, but he lacks any particularly oppressive tools that would propel him into higher tiers.

C-tier Characters

Lily

The newest addition to the Thunderfoot tribe has some advocates in the community, but her kit's capabilities and damage output are often deemed underpowered. However, she is relatively easy to pilot.

Zangief

In a meta dominated by zoners and with the addition of Manon, playing Zangief has become challenging outside of demonstrating loyalty to the character, as seen with players like Snake Eyez, or dominating lower ranks with modern techniques. Winning with Zangief can be immensely satisfying, but certain matchups can prove to be torturous.

Jamie

Jamie is one of the most stylish and charismatic characters in the game, but executing his kit is more challenging than its concept suggests. Particularly when compared to Manon's medal system that scales between rounds, Jamie requires significant effort to reach his full potential. More time and data are needed to assess his performance as a new character.

Street Fighter 6 Guide

Street Fighter 6 is the highly anticipated installment in the long-running fighting game franchise. For newcomers looking to get started, it's important to choose a character you connect with on a personal level, both in terms of design and playstyle. Once you've made your selection, take the time to learn their command list and understand the game mechanics, as they may differ from previous iterations. To become a proficient player, delve deep into your chosen character's move list, master their anti-air options, bread and butter combos, and develop effective strategies for the ground game.

The lab (training mode) is your best friend, allowing you to study frame data and optimize move timings for punishing opponents and gaining an edge in matches. In Street Fighter 6, there are redesigned classic characters and exciting new additions to the roster, providing a wealth of options to explore.

While it's essential to focus on your main character, don't hesitate to experiment with the new fighters and discover their unique playstyles. Ken, a fan-favorite, remains a strong choice, with his impressive corner carry, and essential tools like Fireball, Dragon Punch, and Dragon Slash. Keep in mind that while Ken excels in many areas, he may not be the best zoner due to higher fireball recovery.

To master Ken or any other character, prioritize learning their advanced techniques, such as Jinrai kick loops and Drive Rush combos, and understanding when to use them effectively. Finally, for fans of competitive play, events like Red Bull Kumite offer an exciting platform to witness top players in action and gain inspiration for your own gameplay. So, embrace the challenge, enjoy the journey, and strive to become a formidable fighter in Street Fighter 6.
