The Super Marios Bros. Movie Synopsis
Mario and Luigi are two Italian-American brothers who have recently started a plumbing business in Brooklyn. However, their father disapproves of Mario's decision to quit his steady job under his former boss, Spike, who was antagonistic towards him. One day, while fixing a manhole leak, the brothers are sucked into a Warp Pipe and separated. Mario finds himself in the Mushroom Kingdom, ruled by Princess Peach, while Luigi ends up in the Dark Lands, ruled by the evil Koopa king, Bowser.
Bowser intends to marry Peach and is willing to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom using a Super Star if she refuses. He captures Luigi to blackmail Mario, whom he sees as competition for Peach's love. Mario teams up with Toad, who takes him to meet Peach. She plans to ally with the primate Kongs to repel Bowser's attack and agrees to let Mario and Toad join. Mario must defeat Donkey Kong, King Cranky Kong's son, to secure their help. Despite Donkey Kong's strength, Mario defeats him using a Cat Suit.
Mario, Peach, Toad, and the Kongs drive karts to return to the Mushroom Kingdom, but Bowser's army ambushes them on Rainbow Road. When a Koopa General destroys part of the road, Mario and Donkey Kong fall into the ocean and are eaten by a Maw-Ray, while the other Kongs are captured. Peach and Toad return to the Mushroom Kingdom to urge the citizens to evacuate. Bowser arrives aboard his flying castle and proposes to Peach, who reluctantly accepts after Bowser's advisor, Kamek, tortures Toad. Meanwhile, Mario and Donkey Kong escape the Maw-Ray by riding a rocket from Donkey Kong's kart and hurrying to Bowser and Peach's wedding.
At the wedding reception, Bowser plans to execute all of his prisoners in lava as a tribute to Peach. Toad sneaks an Ice Flower into Peach's bouquet, which she uses to freeze Bowser. Mario and Donkey Kong arrive and free the prisoners, and Mario uses a Tanooki Suit to save Luigi. Bowser frees himself and summons a Banzai Bill to destroy Peach's castle, but Mario knocks it off course and directs it into the Warp Pipe, transporting Bowser's castle to Brooklyn. As they fight Bowser, Mario, and Luigi grab the Super Star, become invincible, and defeat the Koopas. Bowser is shrunk with a Mini Mushroom and imprisoned in a jar. Mario and Luigi are celebrated by Brooklyn's residents, including their parents and Spike. In the end, Mario and Luigi move into a new house together in the Mushroom Kingdom.
