Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a video game made by Square and Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1996. It's the last Mario game for SNES. The story follows Mario and friends as they try to stop the Smithy Gang, who crashed into their world and scattered seven star pieces.
This game is the first in the Mario series with role-playing gameplay, inspired by Square's Final Fantasy. In battles, you take turns fighting enemies with a party of up to three characters. It's also the first Mario game with a 3D environment, adding new exploration and platforming elements.
Super Mario RPG got great reviews for its humor and 3D graphics. It inspired other Mario RPGs like Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. Originally on SNES, it later came to the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles, as well as the Super NES Classic Edition. Super Mario RPG Gameplay
