The 1975

The 1975 are an English pop rock band formed in 2002 in Wilmslow, Cheshire. The band's lineup consists of lead vocalist, principal songwriter, and guitarist Matty Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer and primary producer George Daniel. The band's intriguing name, "The 1975," was inspired by a page of scribblings found in Healy's copy of Jack Kerouac's "On the Road," dated "1 June, The 1975."

These talented band members first crossed paths during their secondary school years and started performing together in 2002. However, they didn't release music professionally until 2012 when they signed with the independent label Dirty Hit. During this period, from 2012 to 2013, they had the opportunity to open for several major acts and released a series of extended plays, including "Facedown," "Sex," "Music for Cars," and "IV." Their breakthrough came with the release of their self-titled debut album in 2013, which soared to the top of the UK charts and featured hit singles like "Sex," "Chocolate," and "Robbers."
