Call of Duty Development

Call of Duty was made by Infinity Ward, a fresh studio started in 2002 with 21 folks, many from the successful Medal of Honor: Allied Assault team. Led by Vince Zampella, they began in April 2002 and grew to 27 members by May 2003. At first, the project was nicknamed "Medal of Honor Killer". They used a pumped-up version of the Quake III Arena game engine and their own animation system called "Ares" to make a new World War II game.
