The Callisto Protocol Wiki

The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror video game created by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton in 2022. The game, directed by Glen Schofield, co-creator of the Dead Space series, is considered a spiritual successor to that franchise. The game follows the story of Jacob Lee, played by Josh Duhamel, who is sent to a prison facility on the Jovian moon Callisto to fight against infected prisoners with an unknown disease while uncovering dark secrets of the facility. In the game, players explore a series of levels, collect resources, and fight off infected prisoners.

Development for the game began when Striking Distance Studios was formed in June 2019. Originally set in the PUBG: Battlegrounds universe, the game later evolved into an original intellectual property.

The game was released on December 2, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Although the game received mixed reviews, it failed to meet Krafton's sales expectations.

The Callisto Protocol walkthrough

Here is a walkthrough for the Callisto Protocol:-

Chapter 1 - Cargo

As players gain control of Jacob in Callisto Protocol, there are a few things they should do before checking on the cargo. The ship's layout is linear and serves as a tutorial for navigating hallways, opening doors, and mantle over boxes or ledges. In this article, we'll guide players on what to do and what to expect as they progress through the game's first chapter.

Find Jacob's Audio Diary

Before heading to the cargo hold, players should check one of the rooms on the side to find Jacob's audio diary. It's a crucial collectible that helps players understand the story better.

Checking the Cargo Hold

After checking the radioactive cargo, players will need to move forward and search for what's causing the alarm on the bridge. There are no other collectibles to find in the first chapter.

Encountering the First Enemy

As players progress through the cargo hold, they will come across a small fire. This unlocks the first story-related achievement/trophy as Jacob and his co-pilot Max realize that they have some uninvited passengers on their ship. Players need to be careful while moving past the flames and through the cargo hold.

Outer Way Terrorists

As players progress through the cargo hold, they will see Outer Way terrorists moving through the hallways of the ship. However, this is just a scripted scene, and players do not need to worry about sneaking past enemies or grotesque monsters yet.

The Sprint to the Bridge

Once players reach the stairs leading back up toward the bridge, they will be prompted to sprint. Players need to move as fast as possible to avoid getting shot by the terrorists. Upon reaching the door, a brief cinematic will play where Jacob tries to flush the invaders out by opening the airlock. However, the door blows open, and Jacob has to try and move toward the bridge while avoiding getting sucked out of his own ship.

Crawling to the Bridge

During this section, players have to crawl up toward the bridge without any Quick Time Events (QTEs). They need to keep moving and eventually make it to the bridge. Despite Jacob and Max's best efforts, they are unable to keep their ship in orbit, and they crash on Callisto.

Jacob's Arrest

To make matters worse, Jacob is soon found by the security personnel of Black Iron Prison and taken into custody. This sets up the game's plot, and players need to explore and fight their way through the prison to uncover the mysteries of Callisto.

Chapter 2 - Outbreak

CORE and Prison Cell

The second chapter of The Callisto Protocol begins with a cutscene where Jacob is processed and implanted with a CORE, which serves as the game's health bar. Jacob wakes up inside a prison cell, and players need to approach the cell door to leave and explore the surroundings. In order to advance the story, players must move along the hallway of cells and go down the stairs. In one of the cells, players will meet an inmate named Elias, who gives Jacob a shiv to unlock his cell's control panel and disable the lock.

Combat Tutorial and Biophages

Upon entering the control room, players will immediately be thrown into a combat tutorial, teaching them how to dodge and attack. Players will encounter their first Biophage and must dodge its attacks and strike when it lets its guard down. Once the Biophage is dead, players will use the controls to open all locked cells. Elias tells Jacob to go to the Watchtower, and players will encounter another Biophage while heading there.

Solitary Confinement and Stealth Section

The elevator to the Watchtower goes down into Solitary Confinement, where players must keep an eye out for Credits and Energy Converters. After leaving Solitary, players must avoid a Security Unit in a mandatory stealth section. If detected, players should start running and find refuge in the operating room. In order to proceed, players must find and pull a fuse out of a malfunctioning panel and insert it into another panel further up the hallway to unlock the door.

Chapter 3 - Aftermath

This text is a walkthrough for the third chapter of the video game Callisto Protocol. The chapter begins with a pre-recorded message from the Warden and a malfunctioning Security Unit. The player will need to go through Medical to reach SHU, where they will encounter several Biophages. The player will find a Reforge station to upgrade their weapons and a GRP device to pick up and throw objects and enemies. After several events, the player will find themselves trapped in a cell with the same woman they have been looking for, Dani. To escape, the player will need to navigate through a series of narrow crawl spaces and QTEs while avoiding enemies and using the GRP to open blocked vents. The chapter ends with the player encountering a Biophage and a Security Unit patrolling the area.
