The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips started in Oklahoma in 1983. Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd are the main guys in the band since 1991. The other members are Derek Brown, Matt Duckworth Kirksey, and Nicholas Ley. They've had different people in the band over the years.
They started by making music on a small label called Restless in the 1980s and early 1990s. Then, they got signed by Warner Brothers and put out their first album with them in 1992. One of their songs, "She Don't Use Jelly," got really popular from their album in 1993. That helped them get noticed by more people.
In 1999, they made an album called "The Soft Bulletin," which a magazine called NME said was the best album of the year. Another big album for them was "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" in 2002. That one got a lot of good reviews too.
They've won some awards, including three Grammy Awards. People like their live shows too. A magazine called Q put them on a list of "50 Bands to See Before You Die" in 2002. Overall, they've been a big deal in music for a while now.
