The Lords Of Salem Plot
"The Lords of Salem" is set in Salem, Massachusetts, and follows the story of Heidi, a recovering drug addict who works as a DJ at a local rock station. She receives a mysterious wooden box containing an album by a band called The Lords. When she listens to the record with her coworker Whitey, they experience a disturbing vision of Satanic worship and a ritual involving a newborn baby. This vision ends when they turn off the record.
Heidi soon interviews Francis Matthias, an author who specializes in the Salem witch trials. When the radio station plays The Lords' record, the women in Salem fall into a trance-like state. Matthias becomes increasingly concerned about the band's name. Later, Heidi's landlord, Lacy, invites her to a gathering with her sisters Sonny and Megan. Megan, a palm reader, predicts dark sexual desires for Heidi, leaving her unsettled.
As Heidi's experiences become increasingly disturbing, she enters a supposedly vacant apartment and has visions of a demon and a nude witch commanding her to "bleed us a king." Believing it to be a nightmare, she wakes up in her own bed. Seeking solace, Heidi visits a church but has a terrifying dream involving assault by the attending priest. She encounters a ghostly figure who claims to have been waiting for her.
Meanwhile, Matthias delves into the history of The Lords and discovers that the music is connected to a coven of Satan worshippers from the 17th century. Their leader, Margaret Morgan, cursed both the women of Salem and the descendants of Reverend Hawthorne, prophesying the birth of the Devil's child within his bloodline.
As Heidi's mental state deteriorates, she becomes increasingly drawn to The Lords' music. Lacy, Sonny, and Megan take Heidi to a mysterious apartment, where they reveal a grand opera house with a demonic figure seated on a throne. The entity embraces Heidi, but she eventually returns to her bedroom.
Matthias attempts to reveal the truth to Heidi about The Lords and her lineage but is killed by Lacy and her sisters in front of her. Unaffected by the murder, Heidi becomes passive. Later, at The Lords' concert, Heidi joins Lacy, Sonny, Megan, and the spirits of Margaret and her coven in a Satanic ritual.
The music causes the female audience members to strip, and amidst surreal visions, Heidi gives birth to a bizarre creature resembling a crawfish, surrounded by the lifeless bodies of the naked women.
The film concludes with the aftermath of the concert, as the radio station reports on the mass suicide that occurred, along with Heidi's disappearance. The story of "The Lords of Salem" explores themes of witchcraft, curses, and the dark forces that haunt the town's history, ultimately leaving audiences disturbed and questioning the boundary between reality and nightmare.
