The official summary of the show states: "In a competition for her capture, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to safeguard his reunited family from those who seek to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, hoping to explore the young girl's untapped powers. However, they soon find themselves embroiled in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. Faced with these challenges, they must fight back, risking everything or risk losing each other forever."

Geralt briefly separates from Ciri and Yennefer in order to track down Rience, a mage hitman with sinister intentions towards Ciri. After failing to neutralize the threat, Geralt reunites with them at Aretuza, just in time for the Conclave—a gathering meant to foster peace and unity across the Continent.
However, peace and unity are shattered when Stregobor is exposed for conspiring to capture Ciri. It is revealed that he has been kidnapping novice mages with elven heritage and has obtained the Monoliths book, which contains knowledge on eradicating the elven race entirely. Yet, by the end of the series, it becomes evident that Stregobor has been set up and is merely a scapegoat for the true rogue mage.
All signs point to Vilgefortz as the real villain, but before Geralt can confront him, he faces a dangerous encounter with Dijkstra, holding him at swordpoint. Though Geralt's fate hangs in the balance, volume one concludes without any harm befalling him. Nevertheless, the foundation is set for intense tensions and impending confrontations.
