Why Did Bobby Cannavale Leave Third Watch?

Bobby Cannavale, a series regular on Third Watch, left the show in 2001 by choice. He requested to be written out due to his character's lack of use and development. Chris Bauer, previously a recurring guest star, was recast as Fred Yokas at the start of season three. Tia Texada initially appeared as a recurring guest star before becoming a regular cast member.

Amy Carlson joined the cast in 2000 as Alex Taylor, but left the program in 2003. In the same year, Yvonne Jung began to make frequent guest appearances, despite having previously appeared in a third-season episode as a lawyer.
