Top Gun Maverick Plot
In the sequel to the 1986 classic Top Gun, Maverick is now a test pilot and his career is in jeopardy due to his repeated insubordination despite his many achievements. Rear Admiral Hammer plans to cancel Maverick's hypersonic Darkstar scramjet program in favor of drones, but Maverick tries to save the program by unilaterally changing the target speed for a test, causing the prototype to be destroyed.
Maverick is then assigned to train an elite group of Top Gun graduates by Air Boss Cyclone, instead of participating in a mission to destroy an unsanctioned uranium enrichment plant. Maverick's students are initially skeptical of his abilities, but he wins their respect by winning every contest.
However, tensions arise between Maverick's two students, Rooster and Hangman, due to their different attitudes toward flying.
