Late on Monday night, the IPL released a statement stating that Virat Kohli, a batter for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, had accepted a Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants. As a result, Kohli was fined 100% of his match fee.

During the 17th over of LSG's innings, Kohli had a heated exchange with Naveen-ul-Haq, who was batting alongside Amit Mishra. Kohli's animated reaction after subsequent dismissals didn't sit well with some of the LSG players.

Naveen-ul-Haq Murid is a professional cricketer from Afghanistan who made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in September 2016.
