What Happened In Cumberland Ri Crash?
On Monday, one of two people died in a 2-car crash in Cumberland, Rhode Island and they are identified as Cumberland resident Sara Laboissonniere, 25.
Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson revealed in a release Tuesday that investigators think the crash that took away the life of Laboissonniere took place as the other car was escaping the scene from a hit-and-run incident.
Police said that the other victim is a woman, but the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office has not confirmed her identity.

Both victims died at the spot of the 2-car crash on Monday afternoon at 210 Pine Swamp Rd. Police said the deadly crash happened about a half mile east of the hit-and-run crash, which had occurred moments earlier. The investigation is now ongoing from Rhode Island State Police's Accident Reconstruction Unit.
According to Benson, people who saw the fatal crash had tried to help both victims, but emergency first responders pronounced both dead at the spot in their respective vehicles upon arrival.

Police were also called Monday afternoon to the area of 210 Pine Swamp Road for a report of a collision involving 2 fatalities. Benson was thanking the civilians who attempted to help the crash victims and first responders for their actions after the collision.
Benson said that there was a motor vehicle collision to an attended vehicle just prior at Pine Swamp Road and West Wrentham Road, about a half-mile from the site. The driver in the suspect vehicle in that accident escaped the scene and was involved in the double fatal collision, but that suspect vehicle was not Laboissionniere's.
