The teen, Bex Fowler who is the daughter of beloved characters Sonia and Martin, struggled to deal with the notion of leaving home and attending university, as viewers of the BBC soap opera are aware. The bright resident was accepted to Oxford University last summer, but she hesitated to accept the offer because it was obvious her mental health was deteriorating. 

After being granted the chance of a lifetime, Sonia was convinced that she had to go, but Bex's condition continued to deteriorate as her relocation date approached. Due to this, Bex made an attempt at her own life. Fortunately, Sonia discovered her in time for her to be taken to the hospital and start recovering from her overdose.

Bex gradually began to recover in the months that followed from the trying time, and she subsequently told her family she was going on a short trip. Since leaving, Sonia has had a hard time adjusting because she feels her family is moving away from her. Even though she left the soap, there is yet room for her character to return in the future.

Bex Fowler is preparing to leave Walford next week, and EastEnders has revealed details of her farewell plot. Actress Jasmine Armfield, who played Bex for six years, has already shot her last scenes for the BBC soap opera, it was announced back in January. Bex begins to reassess her future in light of the boat disaster after a challenging few months on the Square and decides to travel. 

Bex tells Martin and Sonia the news after some prodding from an encouraging Kat, who is less than pleased. Bex continues with her intentions to travel overseas despite her parents' worries but is disappointed when her passport mysteriously disappears. Bex confronts her mother about hiding her passport when she realizes what has transpired, but Sonia is certain the girl is making the wrong choice.

Sadly, Sonia's uncles Max and Jack similarly reprimand her for her stubbornness when it comes to her daughter, and Martin also fails to get her to see reason regarding Bex's future aspirations. Sonia won't listen to anyone, so Bex takes serious action and writes her mother a letter.

Dennis Rickman lost his life in the boat tragedy, and Bex felt it was time to concentrate on her future. She made an offer to an old school classmate who is currently traveling after getting in touch with her. Jade asked Bex if she would want to travel with her to Australia and then some other places.
