What Happened To Gavin Lux?
During an early spring training game for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Gavin Lux took an awkward fall while running the bases. Lux had been moving from second to third on a ground ball when he fell and had to be carted off the field. According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Lux reported feeling something pop, which was not a good sign. Testing confirmed that Lux had torn both his ACL and MCL, which is the worst kind of injury to sustain and will keep him out of the entire 2023 season. As a result, Lux will not be able to play at all this season, and his best bet is to return in 2024, although ACL and MCL injuries are never easy to recover from. Lux was expected to take over as the everyday shortstop, but his injury has left the Dodgers without a shortstop just one month before the regular season begins.

While Roberts did not have much to say, he did confirm that it was indeed a knee injury and that Lux reported hearing a popping sound in his knee. Lux was taken off the field on a cart and is scheduled to have an MRI to determine the extent of his injury. Although Roberts mentioned that there was some strength in the knee, it is still too early to determine the severity of the injury. The team will provide further updates as more information becomes available. The Los Angeles Dodgers' starting shortstop, Gavin Lux, suffered a significant knee injury, tearing his right ACL, and will be out for the entirety of the 2023 season, according to manager Dave Roberts. Dodgers Gavin Lux Injury
According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Gavin Lux has torn his ACL and LCL in his right knee during a game in Arizona on Monday (as reported by MLB.com). Lux stumbled while running from second to third and had to alter his path to avoid a throw, leading to the injury. The injury is expected to keep him out for most of the 2023 season. Roberts expressed hope for the best and said it was a tough situation. Lux, a former top prospect, was set to take over as the everyday shortstop for the Dodgers this spring. With his injury, the team may turn to Miguel Rojas or Chris Taylor, though the latter has only played one inning at shortstop in the past season. The Dodgers may also explore acquiring someone from outside the organization to fill the position.
Lux was set to take over the shortstop position for the Dodgers this spring, replacing Corey Seager who left via free agency. Trea Turner slid to his natural spot at shortstop but left during this past offseason. Lux's injury leaves Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor as possible replacements, with the potential for outside acquisition. Lux was considered a top-five prospect in all of baseball and spent most of his time in the minors playing shortstop. Last season, he hit .276/.346/.399 (105 OPS+) in 471 plate appearances, playing second base, left field, and shortstop.
Where Is Gavin Lux Now?
