What Happened to Rocket Raccoon?

Rocket's life is not taken in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In fact, he becomes the captain and creates a new team of super-powered Guardians. However, he does come dangerously close to death.

When Adam Warlock is sent to return Rocket to the High Evolutionary, who sees Rocket as his property for giving him cybernetic enhancements and heightened intelligence, Rocket is injured in the attack.

His friends work to find a way to save him. He has two near-death experiences, the first when he is initially wounded, and the second when his wounds begin to take over. It's the second experience that takes him to the luminous realm we see in the trailer.

In this scene, Rocket reunites with his friends Lylla, Teefs, and Floor, who were killed by the High Evolutionary. He asks Lylla if he can leave with them, but she says not yet. Peter and Nebula revive him before he can depart.

Does Rocket Raccoon Die?

Contrary to popular belief, Rocket does not meet his demise in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. In fact, the movie's plot takes off when Adam Warlock crashes into Nowhere and nearly kills Rocket.

The Guardians come to his aid, but when they attempt to use medical equipment to help him, it triggers his "kill switch" - a safeguard implanted by the High Evolutionary to prevent anyone from altering him for their own purposes.

Rocket is essentially comatose for much of the film, revisiting his traumatic past. He was taken by the High Evolutionary as a baby, brutally modified, and then left in a cage with other furry creatures in similar situations, including Lylla, Teeths, and Floor.

Although he technically passes away at one point, flatlining just as Peter obtains the exact thing he needs to survive, Lylla declares that he is not yet prepared for the "forever and beautiful sky," and he is revived.

Will Rocket Raccoon Return?

In the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Rocket is one of the main characters who is known for his snarky remarks and technical expertise. While some of the original members of the Guardians team leave at the end of the movie, Rocket decides to form a new team of super-powered individuals to continue their mission of saving the galaxy.

However, the possibility of the original members returning is not ruled out. In a post-credits scene, we see Peter Quill visiting his grandfather on Earth, which suggests that he will be making his return in the future.

The message "The legendary Star-Lord will return" appears on the screen, teasing fans about the character's next appearance. It is not yet clear whether he will return in a new Guardians movie, an Avengers film, or a Disney+ series. Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for the character and the franchise as a whole.
