What Happened To Violet On Chicago Fire?

Throughout the episode, Violet remained in her apartment, grappling with the loss of Hawkins. Brett and Kidd both came to visit her, bringing gifts, but it was Severide who ultimately reached her. He invited himself into her apartment and took her on a trip down memory lane to a time before she even became part of the show's cast. Severide spoke to Violet about Anna, his former girlfriend from the fifth season, who passed away due to leukemia.

"The two toughest things I’ve ever been through were losing Shay and losing [Anna]," he said. "And for the longest time, after Anna died, I felt like a boat cut loose from the dock, just lost, nothing to hold on to. I don’t like to think about how low a bottom I might have hit if I hadn’t gone back to work. That’s just my take, having been where you are."

Severide's words had a profound impact on Violet, but she expressed her fear of encountering reminders of Hawkins wherever she went. Instead of dispelling this fear, Severide shared his own experience, acknowledging that he still saw Anna everywhere, but it was his colleagues on the crew who lifted him up and helped him through it.

Who Does Violet End Up With In Chicago Fire?

Violet was first introduced in episode 10 of season 8 of "Chicago Fire." In the episode, she reprimanded Gallo for not adhering to the proper procedures following a car accident. The other characters noticed the mutual attraction between Violet and Gallo and interpreted their frequent debates as playful banter. By the end of the episode, Violet approached Gallo and the two slept together.

After spending some time getting to know each other, Violet and Gallo began dating. Gallo later revealed to Violet that he preferred a non-exclusive relationship, which Violet accepted. But, Gallo became angry when Violet went on a date with someone else and expressed regret over their agreement for an open relationship. Suddenly, Gallo proposed marriage, which Violet promptly declined. In season 10, when Gallo began seeing someone else, Violet realized she still had feelings for him. Despite trying to suppress these emotions, she started flirting with Chief Hawkins. Gallo ended his relationship and attempted to rekindle things with Violet, but she declined his advances, expressing that she was no longer interested.

Eventually, Violet started a relationship with Hawkins, but it was cut short by his tragic death in a building collapse.

What Happens To Violet?

Gilbert encouraged Violet to live freely and revealed that he had always had feelings for her. Over time, Violet underwent training to become an Auto Memories Doll, working alongside the other workers. Despite the challenges, she quickly adapted and became a skilled typist, capable of typing 200 characters per minute. Her work drew the attention of a famous writer named Oscar Webster, who she eventually visited at his home in Genetrix, Roswell Region. Together, they wrote a story about a girl named Olive, and as they progressed, Violet found herself feeling empathetic toward the character. Oscar saw similarities between Violet and his daughter, Olivia, who he lost to illness. Both he and Violet found solace in each other's shared experiences of loss and pain, as Gilbert's absence had left a similar emptiness in Violet's heart.

Violet and Oscar completed the story they were working on with a powerful message, but the process of writing the story caused Violet great emotional pain. She was desperate to know what had happened to Gilbert and why no one had told her. Eventually, Hodgins revealed the truth, which was that Gilbert was missing in action and his ID tag had been found among the debris of a collapsed church. This news was devastating for Violet and she temporarily lost control of her emotions, running away and even considering taking her own life. However, after reading letters from the other Auto Memories Dolls who were worried about her, Violet found the strength to live and continue to spread happiness through her writing abilities.

The series showrunner has given some insight into how Violet will be affected by this loss and what it will look like moving forward in the show.

In a talk with TV Line, Chicago Fire's executive producer Andrea Newman stated that for Violet, the aftermath of her boyfriend's death in episode three won't be simple.
