What is The Borderland in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, The Borderland is an obstructed area of water near Costa Del Sol. It's blocked off by branches and twigs, making it challenging to navigate. This area is part of the Corel region, which players can explore after finishing the story quests in Costa Del Sol. However, when first arriving in the Corel region, players cannot complete all the World Intel challenges.

For players who like to thoroughly explore and achieve 100% completion in each area before moving on, this can be frustrating. While there are points of interest, World Intel, and Lifesprings to discover in the Corel region, some side quests can be started but not fully completed until later in the game.

The Borderland represents a barrier that players must overcome to fully explore and complete the Corel region. It requires patience and progression through the game's storyline before players can return and tackle all the challenges it presents.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a video game made by Square Enix. It comes after Final Fantasy VII Remake and is the second part of a trilogy redoing the original Final Fantasy VII game from 1997. The game mixes real-time action with strategy and role-playing. It starts right after the events of the Remake.

Players control Cloud Strife, a mercenary, and his friends from AVALANCHE, an eco-terrorist group. They travel around the world to stop Shinra, a big corporation, from using the Planet's life force, called the Lifestream, for energy. They also aim to defeat Sephiroth, a powerful enemy who wants to merge with the Planet to gain more power.

Development for Rebirth began in November 2019, even before Remake came out. Square Enix announced the game in June 2022. Many of the same people who worked on Remake are working on Rebirth, with Tetsuya Nomura leading creatively instead of directing, and Naoki Hamaguchi directing instead of being a co-director. The game came out on February 29, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, and it got great reviews from critics.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Gameplay

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second part of a trilogy redoing the 1997 game Final Fantasy VII. It starts after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020), when the party escapes from Midgar city. Players mainly control Cloud Strife, who used to work for Shinra but now fights against them with the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE. They're up against Shinra, who's been draining the planet's life energy, and Sephiroth, a powerful SOLDIER who's back from the dead.

The game has real-time exploration and combat. Unlike the linear progression of Remake's Midgar, Rebirth has a more open overworld. The game shows markers on the screen to guide players to main story quests and sidequests. The party can travel on foot or ride Chocobos for faster travel by using special Chocobo Lure Materia.

In combat, players control a group of characters that they can switch between freely. Characters use both physical attacks and magic. Players can also use items from a menu to attack, defend, or heal themselves during battles. The "Synergized" mechanic from the DLC "Episode INTERmission" for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is back, allowing party members to coordinate their attacks, but it slows down the filling of their action bars.
