When do NCAA Football Rankings Come Out?
The Associated Press releases weekly rankings of the Top 25 college football teams in the nation. These rankings are determined through the opinions of 62 writers and analysts across the country. Normally, the poll is made public every Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
However, this week, there is a special circumstance. The final game of Week 1 is the match between No. 9 Clemson and Duke on Monday night at 8 p.m. EST. Because of this late game, the AP poll for this week will not be disclosed on its usual Sunday schedule. Instead, it will be revealed on Tuesday at 2 p.m. EST.
Starting from September 10, the AP poll will return to its regular release time on Sundays around 2 p.m. EST. It's worth noting that even if Clemson had not been scheduled to play on Monday, the poll still would not have been released at its usual time, as there is a significant game between two ranked teams, Florida State and LSU, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. EST. So, the release schedule is adjusted to accommodate these games and provide accurate rankings to college football fans.

NCAA Football
The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) is the highest level of college football in the United States. It includes big schools in the NCAA, and there are 10 conferences with 133 schools in FBS in 2023.
College football is super popular in the U.S. Top schools make a lot of money, and they have lots of fans at their games. The biggest stadiums in America are used by FBS teams or for FBS games. Starting in July 2021, college athletes can earn money for things like using their name and image. Before that, they could only get things like scholarships for tuition, housing, and books.
Unlike other NCAA divisions, the NCAA doesn't give out an official FBS football national championship. Instead, groups like the Associated Press and AFCA used to pick the best teams and name a champion based on votes from sports writers and coaches. Instead of a playoff, there are bowl games held in different cities.
These used to be like exhibition games with money for the teams, but now they're the closest thing to the playoffs. In recent years, there have been plans by top FBS conferences and bowls to set up games to decide the FBS national champion on the field.
