Anne Frank Plot

Anne attends a Jewish lyceum, befriends Jacqueline (Victoria Anne Brown) and develops a crush on Hello (Nicky Cantor). On her 13th birthday, she receives a checkered-patterned diary and starts writing.

In 1942, Anne's sister Margot (Jessica Manley) is called up for deportation. The Frank family, along with the Van Pels (Joachim Krol, Brenda Blethyn, Nicholas Audsley) and Fritz Pfeffer (Jan Niklas), move into the "Secret Annex." Anne and Peter (Nicholas Audsley) form a bond, while Fritz becomes her antagonist. They live in fear, and Anne experiences her first period. The annex is terrorized by a thief.

In 1944, the Franks are denounced and arrested. They are sent to Westerbork transit camp and later to Auschwitz. Anne and Margot are separated fromtheir father. They are eventually sent to Bergen-Belsen, where conditions are dire. Anne sees her friend Hannah (Jade Williams) from afar. Margot falls ill and dies.

After the war, Otto Frank (Ben Kingsley) discovers Anne's diary and learns of her death. Miep Gies (Lili Taylor) gives him the preserved diary. Otto visits the empty annex and breaks down in front of Anne's wall. The epilogue reveals the fate of the individuals mentioned in the story.
