Once the region is unlocked, players should scan the Lifesprings to reveal the Tonberry King's location in a ruined arena along the southeastern part of Corel. It's important to level up to at least 31 before attempting to battle the Tonberry King, as it's a tough opponent.
The Tonberry King is located near the eastern coast of the southern Corel section, north of a Mogstool, and directly south from Johnny, who gives a subquest for a Tonberry Crown. How to Attack Tonberry King in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
The Tonberry King in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has 14,220 HP on normal difficulty and doesn't have any elemental weaknesses. To defeat it, you need to inflict enough damage after its attacks miss to Pressure it. This allows you to make use of the Steal ability on its Pristine Crown if you have the Steal Materia equipped.
Before facing the Tonberry King, it's recommended to add at least one ranged character to your party to avoid its instant-death move called Chef's Knife. Barret is a good choice as his ranged attacks can Pressure the Tonberry King. You can also equip healing spells on the Auto-Cast Materia and the Auto-Unique Ability Materia on party members to use special abilities automatically.
During the fight, stay away from the front of the Tonberry King to avoid its Chef's Knife attack. It's risky to attack from the front, so it's safer to control Barret for long-range attacks. Switch to characters like Cloud, Tifa, or Red XIII when the Tonberry King is Staggered to deal more damage quickly.
Be cautious of the Tonberry King's projectile attacks like Rancor and Doom and Gloom, which can stun or instantly kill party members. Dodge these projectiles by moving left or right.
