• Despite facing an injury that sidelined him for six games during his junior season, Ewers managed to tally 2,442 yards and 28 touchdown passes in eight games. Southlake Carroll advanced to the 6A Division I Texas State Championship Game but fell short against Westlake High School.
• His talents were further recognized as he participated in the 2021 Elite 11 competition, where he secured sixth place despite strong competition.
• Heading into his senior year, Ewers was hailed as the top recruit in the 2022 class by multiple outlets. Initially committed to the University of Texas, he would later switch gears, decommitting from the Longhorns in October before announcing his commitment to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes in November 2020.
