Eurovision 2023

The 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Liverpool, United Kingdom in 2023. The event was held at the Liverpool Arena and was organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), on behalf of the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA: PBC).

The contest was originally meant to be hosted by Ukraine, the winner of the 2022 contest with the song "Stefania" by Kalush Orchestra. However, due to security concerns caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine was unable to meet the hosting demands. As a result, the United Kingdom stepped in as the host country.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 consisted of two semi-finals held on the 9th and 11th of May, followed by the final on the 13th of May. The live shows were presented by British singer Alesha Dixon, British actress Hannah Waddingham, and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina. Irish television presenter Graham Norton joined the presenting team for the final show.

A total of thirty-seven countries took part in the contest, with Bulgaria, Montenegro, and North Macedonia deciding not to participate. Their absence was primarily attributed to the economic repercussions of the global energy crisis experienced between 2021 and 2023.

The winning country of the Eurovision Song Contest was Sweden, represented by Loreen and her song "Tattoo." Loreen's composition was written collaboratively with five others. This victory marked Loreen's second win in the contest, making her only the second performer to achieve this feat. Additionally, it was Sweden's seventh win overall, equaling Ireland's record for the most victories in the history of the contest. The top five countries also included Finland, Israel, Italy, and Norway, with Finland winning the public vote.

Who is Favourite to Win Eurovision 2023?

According to the latest odds, Sweden is the favorite to win Eurovision 2023. The country is being represented by former winner Loreen on the song "Tattoo." Finland comes next with odds of 11/4. Their infectious song "Cha Cha Cha" is a big favorite from Käärijä. Last year's winners Ukraine are third favorites, followed by France and Spain. As for the UK - 'I Wrote a Song' by Mae Muller - currently has respectable odds of 50/1.

Here is a list of the top 10 contenders for Eurovision 2023, according to the odds:

  1. Sweden (4/9)
  2. Finland (9/4)
  3. Ukraine (12/1)
  4. Israel (16/1)

  7. Spain (22/1)
  8. Austria (55/1)
  9. Italy (60/1)
  10. United Kingdom (66/1)

It is important to note that these are just odds and anything can happen on the night of the final. The Eurovision Song Contest is a very unpredictable event, and there have been many surprises in the past. So, while Sweden may be the favorite, it is by no means a guarantee that they will win.
