Seán Finn, born on January 24, 1996, is an Irish hurler. He is known for his role as a right corner-back for Bruff, his club team, and also represents the Limerick senior hurling team at the inter-county level.

Seán Finn Early Life

Seán Finn was Born in Bruff, County Limerick, Finn comes from a hurling background. His father, Brian Finn, was a member of the Limerick senior hurling team that won a Munster Championship medal in 1994.

Seán Finn's Playing Career

University 

While studying at the University of Limerick, Finn was chosen to be a part of the university's senior hurling team. On February 24, 2018, he achieved a Fitzgibbon Cup medal when UL emerged victorious with a score of 2-21 to 2-15 against Dublin City University in the final.

Club 

Finn became a member of the Bruff club at a young age and progressed through various age groups and levels before eventually joining the club's senior team. On October 25, 2014, he secured a Premier Intermediate Championship medal after Bruff defeated Croom in the final with a score of 2-14 to 0-16.

Inter-county 

Minor and under-21

At the age of seventeen, Finn made his debut for the Limerick minor hurling team. On July 23, 2013, he played as a left corner-back when Limerick secured their first Munster Championship title in 29 years. They achieved this after a replay of the final, defeating Waterford with a score of 1-20 to 4-08.

The following year, Finn remained eligible for the minor grade and won another Munster Championship medal. Limerick faced Waterford once again in a replay of the final, triumphing with a score of 0-24 to 0-18. On September 7, 2014, Finn played as a right corner-back in the All-Ireland final, where Limerick suffered a 2-17 to 0-19 defeat against Kilkenny.

Subsequently, Finn joined the Limerick under-21 hurling team. In his debut season, he claimed a Munster Championship medal after a 0-22 to 0-19 victory over Clare in the final. On September 12, 2015, Finn played as a right corner-back in the All-Ireland final, where Limerick emerged victorious with a 0-26 to 1-07 win against Wexford.

Unfortunately, on February 4, 2016, Finn suffered a cruciate ligament tear, ruling him out for the year. However, he made a comeback in 2017 and secured his second Munster Championship medal. Limerick defeated Cork in the final with a score of 0-16 to 1-11. On September 9, 2017, Finn played as a right corner-back in Limerick's All-Ireland final victory against Kilkenny, with a final score of 0-17 to 0-11. He was later recognized for his outstanding performance and named on the Bord Gáis Energy Team of the Year.

Senior

2016 season

Finn was selected by Limerick senior team manager T. J. Ryan to join the team ahead of the 2016 Munster League. He made his debut for the team on January 3, 2016, playing as the right corner-back in a match against Kerry, which Limerick won with a score of 2-23 to 0-18. On January 23, 2016, Finn once again started for the team, but Limerick was defeated by Clare in the final. Unfortunately, on February 9, 2016, it was announced that Finn would be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a cruciate ligament tear.

2017 season

After recovering from his cruciate injury, Finn was once again chosen for the Limerick team under the leadership of new manager John Kiely in the 2017 season. Despite not participating in the pre-season Munster League, he made his competitive debut on March 4, 2017, in a National League match against Offaly, which Limerick won with a score of 1-25 to 3-15. Throughout the season, Finn made three appearances in the league, including one as a substitute in the semi-final defeat against Galway. On June 4, 2017, he made his Munster Championship debut in a semi-final loss to Clare with a score of 3-17 to 2-16.

2018 season

For the upcoming 2018 season, Finn was once again named in the 38-man Limerick panel. However, he only made one appearance during the pre-season Munster League. In the subsequent National League, Finn played in five out of Limerick's seven games. On August 19, 2018, he started as the right corner-back in the All-Ireland final against Galway, which Limerick won with a score of 3-16 to 2-18, securing their first All-Ireland Championship title in 45 years. Finn's impressive performance earned him a place on the Sunday Game Team of the Year and later on the All-Star Team as the right corner-back.

2019 season

During the 2019 National League, Finn continued to be a regular player for Limerick, appearing in seven out of their eight games. On March 31, 2019, he played as the full-back when Limerick won the Division 1 title for the first time since 1997 with a 1-24 to 0-19 victory over Waterford in the final. In the 2019 Munster Championship, Finn obtained his first provincial winners' medal after Limerick defeated Tipperary in the Munster final with a score of 2-26 to 2-14. He was once again recognized for his outstanding performance and was named in the right corner-back position on the GAA/GPA All-Star Team for the second consecutive year.

2020 season

Finn did not participate in the two group stage games of the 2020 Munster League for Limerick. However, he returned to the team as a substitute for the final against Cork on January 11, 2020, where Limerick emerged victorious with a score of 1-32 to 0-20. In the subsequent National League campaign, Finn played in four out of Limerick's five Division 1A games. On October 25, 2020, he started as the right corner-back in the league final and contributed to Limerick's 0-36 to 1-23 victory over Clare. Finn concluded the 2020 Munster Championship with his second consecutive winners' medal after Limerick defeated Waterford. Once again, he was selected as the right corner-back for the All-Ireland final against Waterford on December 13, 2020, and secured his second title in three years with a score of 0-30 to 0-19.
