Yakuza Kiwami is an action-adventure video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. Each installment features a crime drama storyline inspired by yakuza films and pre-2000 Japanese crime dramas, and the main character is typically Kazuma Kiryu, a former member of the Tojo Clan.
Kiryu works with the Tojo Clan leaders to stop conspiracies against them, but the series' central theme is his desire to leave the yakuza and start over by raising orphans and assimilating into civilian life. In the open-world gameplay, players fight against thugs, complete missions, and engage in activities such as mini-games, crafting items, and visiting clubs and restaurants. As of 2021, Sega reported that the series had sold 19.8 million units, and the series has expanded to other media, including film adaptations, due to its popularity in Japan.

For those new to the Yakuza franchise, I suggest playing Yakuza 0 first to become familiar with the game's many minigames, gain a better understanding of the story, and have a more enjoyable overall experience.

Yakuza Kiwami Gameplay
The Yakuza series, including the latest installment Yakuza: Like a Dragon, features a combination of combat, story, and exploration. The player character randomly encounters enemies on their path, triggering combat where they use hand-to-hand combat, combos, grabs, throws, and finishing moves. Weapons can also be obtained and used, with some characters having specialized fighting styles centered around their trademark weapons.
Winning battles rewards the player with money or items that can be used to purchase equipment or play mini-games. The games also include sub-stories, which side missions that complement the main story and give the player extra experience. There are a large number of mini-games that range from activities like bowling and arcade games to more complex ones like professions and cabaret club management.
The games also feature a recurring superboss named Amon, who appears in most of the titles.
