Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces a feature where players can unlock various items and rewards by using Amiibo figurines. Amiibo is a line of interactive figures released by Nintendo that can be scanned using the Nintendo Switch console to activate special in-game content. In Tears of the Kingdom, players have the opportunity to use specific Zelda-themed Amiibo to receive exclusive unlockables and additional benefits.
To use Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom, players need to have a compatible Amiibo figure and a Nintendo Switch console. By placing the Amiibo on the designated NFC (Near Field Communication) area of the console, players can initiate the scanning process. The game recognizes the scanned Amiibo and provides corresponding rewards or bonuses.
The list of known rewards gained by using Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom includes a variety of items and enhancements. These rewards may include additional weapons, armor sets, consumable items like health-restoring potions, and even cosmetic changes for Link's appearance. Each Zelda-themed Amiibo has its own unique set of rewards, adding an extra layer of excitement and collectibility for players.
Some of the exclusive unlockables from using Zelda-themed Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom are specifically tailored to the Zelda franchise. These rewards often pay homage to iconic items, characters, or locations from previous Zelda games, allowing players to experience a nostalgic connection to the series. Examples of such unlockables may include legendary weapons like the Master Sword, special costumes based on classic Zelda outfits, or even bonus side quests related to familiar characters.

How to Use Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom?
Nintendo has revealed on the official Tears of the Kingdom website that players can receive helpful materials, weapons, or a paraglider fabric based on the scanned Amiibo from The Legend of Zelda series. These Amiibo can be scanned using the Amiibo Ability acquired on The Great Sky Island, and each Amiibo can be scanned once per day.
If players save their game before scanning an Amiibo and don't get the desired reward, they have the option to reload the save file and try again. Alternatively, they can save and quit, then adjust the Switch's internal clock by one day to scan again.
In Tears of the Kingdom, scanning the Super Smash Brothers Link Amiibo will reward players with Epona, Link's Legendary Horse, just like in Breath of the Wild. However, Epona cannot be customized, renamed, carry cargo, or have her stats upgraded.
Although the Wolf Link Amiibo from the special edition of Twilight Princess HD made Wolf Link appear in Breath of the Wild, he does not appear in Tears of the Kingdom.
Players can use various Legend of Zelda-themed Amiibo, as well as non-Zelda Amiibo, to perform different features and receive rewards. Non-Zelda Amiibo can drop currency, food ingredients, and sometimes weapons. Zelda-themed Amiibo may drop the same items, along with a chance of exclusive themed items. This can include a unique Paraglider Fabric not found elsewhere or a part of a themed Armor Set for Link.
It's important to note that, unlike in Breath of the Wild, all Amiibo armor sets are available in Tears of the Kingdom without any specific Amiibo requirement.
