BHU PhD Admission 2024
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has introduced alterations to its PhD admission procedure for the academic session 2024-25. Rather than conducting a separate research entrance test, BHU will consider scores from the UGC NET and CSIR NET exams held in June 2024 for PhD admissions.
This decision streamlines the admission process, eliminating the need for candidates to undergo an additional entrance examination specifically for PhD admission at BHU.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for PhD admission at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for the academic session 2024-25 are as follows:
-
RET-Exempted Mode:
- Candidates who have qualified for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) will be eligible for consideration under this mode. They will not be required to undergo the Research Entrance Test (RET).
-
RET Mode:
- Candidates who have qualified for JRF, along with those who have qualified for categories II and III of the UGC/CSIR NET June 2024 exams, will be eligible for consideration under the RET mode. This includes candidates who have achieved certain eligibility criteria in the UGC/CSIR NET exams.
-
Special Consideration for the Institute of Agricultural Sciences:
- For admission to the PhD program under the RET mode specifically in the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the score from the Agricultural Services Recruitment Board (ASRB) examination 2024 will be taken into account. This suggests that candidates applying to this particular institute may have additional eligibility criteria or considerations compared to other departments or institutes within BHU.
Modes of Admission
BHU offers two modes of PhD admissions:
Previous NET scores will not be considered valid for admission in the upcoming academic session.
