Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), previously known as the University of Indore, is a state university located in Indore, India. Named after Ahilya Bai Holkar, an 18th-century Queen of Indore and the daughter-in-law of Malhar Rao Holkar, the founder of the Holkar Dynasty, DAVV initially served only Indore city.
Over time, its reach expanded to include seven nearby tribal-dominated districts: Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, and Barwani. As a result, DAVV now provides education to both the industrially developed district of Indore and these rural and tribal areas.
