University of Mumbai
The University of Mumbai, previously known as the University of Bombay, is one of India's oldest and top universities. It was established in 1857 following "Wood's Education Dispatch" and is one of the first three universities in India.
The name changed from "University of Bombay" to "University of Mumbai" in line with the city's name change, as notified by the Government of Maharashtra on September 4, 1996. The university received a 5-star status in 2001 and an 'A++' grade in April 2017 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
