NIMCET Exam Date 2024

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has announced the NIMCET 2024 exam date. The NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test) will occur on June 8, 2024.

This exam is essential for students seeking admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programs at various NITs. The admit cards for the exam can be downloaded from May 28 to June 8, 2024.

Approximately 50,000 students apply each year, competing for around 805 seats across 11 NITs in India, including Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, and Raipur. The registration process for the exam ended on March 24, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NIMCET 2024 exam, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Must have a degree in mathematics or statistics for at least 3 years full-time, or a B.E./B: tech degree, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
  • Candidates with a B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons)/BCA/BIT degree for 3 years from Open Universities are also eligible to apply.

Appearing Candidates:

  • Candidates currently appearing in their final qualifying exam are eligible to apply.

Minimum Marks Required:

  • General category candidates must have at least 60% aggregate marks or a 6.5/10 CGPA.
  • SC/ST category candidates must have at least 55% aggregate marks or a 6.0/10 CGPA.

NIMCET 

The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) is a national exam for admission to MCA programs at NITs. For 2024, it will provide entry to MCA programs at nine NITs: Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Warangal, Patna, and IT Bhopal. The admission is based on the rank obtained in the NIMCET-2024 exam.

The exam will be held on June 8, 2024, and is conducted online. It consists of multiple-choice questions in English, divided into four sections: Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and General English.

There are 120 questions in total. Each correct answer earns 4 marks, and each wrong answer deducts 1 mark. The MCA curriculum at NITs is designed to meet the needs of IT firms, ensuring good job opportunities for graduates in the IT sector.
