A Frozen Flower Ending Explained
As the King takes his last breaths, Hong-rim rises and pulls the sword from his shoulder. He charges at the guards, but the junior commander fatally stabs him. The Queen arrives, and the guards try to restrain her as she tearfully calls out for Hong-rim. She is taken away, and Hong-rim realizes that the King spared her life. He dies facing the king, realizing that he was being tested. The junior commander declares that the King was killed by an assassin and orders his men to remove the bodies and keep the event secret.
In the final scenes, there is a flashback to when the King showed a young Hong-rim the city view and asked if he wanted to live with him, to which Hong-rim replied, "Yes." The film ends with a montage of the King and Hong-rim happily hunting together, referencing a dream the King once had, as shown in his painting.
