AEW and Warner Bros Discovery have made a big announcement. They revealed their third official TV show called AEW Collision. Starting from Saturday, June 17, with its premiere episode, All Elite Wrestling will expand its weekly lineup to three shows. Tony Khan, the mastermind behind AEW, already presents Dynamite and the reality show All Access every Wednesday, while Rampage airs on Fridays. This new addition now amounts to a total of six hours of AEW programming each week. Collision will serve as a platform for the roster to explore fresh avenues, allowing stars to make comebacks from hiatuses or revitalize their wrestling careers that may have hit a standstill.

AEW Premiere Event

The highly anticipated premiere of AEW Collision is set to take place in Chicago, the hometown of former AEW Champion CM Punk. There's a lot of buzz around Punk's potential return during the new show, but AEW President Tony Khan chose not to comment on it during his interview with CBS Radio Sports. Instead, he highlighted the promotion's success in Chicago.

With boundless enthusiasm, Jason Sarlanis, the President of Turner Networks, shared his excitement regarding the grand unveiling of Collision. He emphasized that AEW's remarkably skilled roster has expanded at an astonishing pace, necessitating an additional night to provide a platform for the mesmerizing rivalries, indelible matches, and treasured stars that our cherished audience holds dear.

He stated “AEW’s roster of talent has expanded so quickly that we felt it needed another night to bring our audience the epic rivalries, unforgettable matches and stars they love to watch.”

While there's still speculation about CM Punk's comeback to the industry, fans can eagerly anticipate the debut of Collision. The show's future episodes are expected to feature a lineup of major stars, including Thunder Rosa, Andrade El Idolo, and Samoa Joe.

Is AEW Planning to Adopt a Brand Split Similar to WWE?

With the recent confirmation that Collision will be hitting our screens on Saturday nights starting in June, fans have started drawing comparisons between AEW and WWE. All Elite Wrestling has always prioritized providing their wrestlers with ample opportunities, and it wouldn't be surprising if they consider implementing a brand split, similar to what WWE has done.

Although it's still not officially confirmed, there have been reports from Fightful Select indicating that many members of the roster strongly believe in an impending "firm" brand split. It seems that the different shows will keep wrestlers separate, likely due to various issues such as the Elite faction and the potential involvement of CM Punk.

However, according to Nick Miller of Wrestling Inc, a firm brand split might not be the case. Instead, talent will be exclusively added to the Collision roster, while others will continue to shine on Dynamite. Wrestlers may also find themselves floating between the shows as needed for compelling storylines.
