The girl was using a T-bar lift to climb the hill at 9:30 a.m., the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed on Monday morning. When she arrived at the hospital in critical condition, she was later confirmed dead.

The investigation is still ongoing this morning since "we don't know exactly if she falls, if the T-bar was broken or something," according to SQ spokesperson Geneviève Bruno.

François Gagnon, president, and chief executive officer of the ski resort, stated to reporters on Monday that the entire Val Saint-Côme family is in mourning.

Gagnon stated, "All of our sympathies are with the family and friends," and he added that a support system had been set up right away for staff members who had been affected by the events of Sunday.
