According to CBS Sports, this has put AEW in a position to be a significant player in the wrestling industry.

AEW Revolution 2023 Results

The main event of AEW Revolution was advertised to be MJF vs. Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship in a one-hour Iron Man Match. Despite AEW attempting to create a fabricated controversy about whether or not MJF could last an hour, he was able to do so in an excellent and gory main event, ultimately retaining the AEW World Championship. Additionally, there were a total of five AEW championships on the line, including Wardlow challenging Samoa Joe for the AEW TNT Championship, The Acclaimed striving to regain the AEW Tag Team Championships in a Fatal 4-Way match, Jamie Hayter, Ruby Soho, and Saraya competing for the AEW Women’s World Championship, and The House of Black taking on The Elite for the AEW World Trios Championships. During the go-home broadcast of AEW Dynamite leading up to AEW Revolution, only 833,000 viewers tuned in this week.

AEW Revolution 2023 Winners and Grades

Ricky Starks def. Chris Jericho

It seems that Ricky Starks has had another significant performance, which has become typical for him, and can be regarded as his coming-out party. Although Chris Jericho is a top-tier wrestler, he has also established himself as one of the best opening-match performers in AEW. Despite interference from outside, Starks was able to overcome his opponents and defeat Chris Jericho without any help. This victory puts him in contention to challenge MJF for the championship and should be considered as one of the top candidates.

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks Grade: A

Jungle Boy def. Christian Cage

Jungle Boy donned his jungle boots and jeans, while the cunning heel Christian opted for a turtleneck tank top in their street fight. Once again, Christian engaged in verbal sparring with Jungle Boy Jack Perry's family during the match. The Burial Match was equipped with a casket and a burial plot, and it required two steps to achieve victory. Despite the match's exaggerated premise, the crowd's involvement made it an exceptional encounter. Jungle Boy emerged victorious by trapping Cage in a casket, which then fell into a grave.

Jungle Boy vs. Christian Cage Grade: A

House of Black def. The Elite

The match quickly garnered "this is awesome" chants from the audience. Excalibur noted the similarities between Kenny Omega and Buddy Mathews, which began when Mathews was mimicking Omega's moves while performing as Buddy Murphy. The Elite's Trios Championship reign coming to an end suggests that Hangman Adam Page's reunion with them may be imminent.

House of Black vs. The Elite Grade: A

Jamie Hayter def. Saraya and Ruby Soho

It was quite the spectacle to witness Britt Baker taking on the role of Rebel in Jamie Hayter's pay-per-view match. Based on the crowd's chants, it was clear that there was a divide among fans, with some supporting Jamie Hayter and others supporting Ruby Soho. During the match, Britt Baker and Toni Storm skillfully distracted the referee in a well-executed spot, which nearly resulted in Soho claiming victory with the Destination Unknown move. Ultimately, Jamie Hayter managed to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship title by defeating Ruby Soho with a rollup. Following the match, Soho engaged in a brawl, pushing Saraya and Storm over the top rope before appearing to join forces with Hayter and Baker. However, she quickly attacked them and aligned herself with Paige and Toni on Team WWE.

Hayter vs. Saraya and Soho Grade: B

Hangman Adam Page def. Jon Moxley

Hangman Adam Page made his entrance to The Outlaws' "Ghostriders in the Sky" as the lighting turned red, foreshadowing the events to come. As the match began, the audience rallied behind Hangman Adam Page, who launched the first strike by pouncing on Moxley. Moxley started bleeding within two minutes of the match's start and promptly introduced a fork to make Hangman Adam Page bleed in return. Hangman Adam Page collided face-first with a chair coated in barbed wire that was lodged in the corner. He then spent a considerable amount of time setting up a spot where he wrapped himself in barbed wire and executed an Orihara moonsault, which was worth the wait.During the match, AEW cut to a shot of the only woman left in the audience, who appeared to be horrified. The match included a variety of weapons, such as chairs, barbed wire, a chair covered in barbed wire, a barbed wire board, chains, and bricks. Although Hangman overshot the table, it inadvertently created a more compelling narrative of Moxley giving him a concussion and sending him headfirst through a barbed wire board. Interestingly, Moxley used a curb stomp on a brick to attack Hangman Adam Page, which led to chants of Rollins' theme music simmering throughout the crowd. The match concluded with Hangman Adam Page forcing Jon Moxley to submit with a chain-link lynching in a Texas Death Match, which was truly unbelievable.

Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Adam Page Grade: A

Wardlow def. Samoa Joe

Despite his past superstar reactions in 2022, Wardlow failed to receive the same level of crowd support. This trend started when his legs were cut out from under him during the MJF Double or Nothing drama. Wardlow and Samoa Joe were at a disadvantage following the heated death match that came before their bout, resulting in a quiet audience, except for a screaming woman. Although Will Hobbs received the biggest cheer of the match, he appeared just as uninterested in the match as the rest of the Chase Center. The second half of the match was eventually saved as both Joe and Wardlow gave their all, and the audience slowly became engaged. Wardlow emerged victorious with a rear-naked choke submission while screaming "die!" leaving fans more shocked than anything. The announce team emphasized Will Hobbs' potential impact by suggesting that Wardlow's TNT Title reign could be one of the shortest in history.

Wardlow vs. Samoa Joe Grade: B

The Gunn Club def. The Acclaimed, Triple J, Orange Cassidy and Danhausen

The Gunn Club maintained their 90s cosplay theme by donning entrance gear reminiscent of Shawn Michaels. In the ring, Danhausen and Orange Cassidy were just as entertaining as they seemed on paper. Fans erupted into a "San Fran Scissor" chant, which was one of many highlights during the match. The crowd went wild for the faceoff between Danhausen and Satnam Singh, as if it were Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant. They cheered even louder when Billy Gunn sat on Singh's head with a Fame Asser. Aubrey Edwards received unusual boos when she prevented Max Caster from using a guitar on Jeff Jarrett. The match ended right after Austin Gunn was cursed, but The Gunns still won, completely negating the curse.

AEW Tag Title Fatal 4-Way Grade: B

MJF def. Bryan Danielson

MJF made an impressive entrance with a violin choir playing his theme music, while wearing a devil's mask. The audience booed Bryan Danielson audibly, which even seemed to surprise him. MJF revealed his muscular physique but dropped the belt while taking it off, improvising by barking at the crowd when they chanted "you f—ked up." He was an excellent heel, with his slow pacing and occasional antagonizing of the audience. The announcers analyzed MJF's motivations, but Taz criticized them for trying to be "psychiatrists on a wrestling show." Bryan Danielson won the first fall of the match with a Busaiku Knee 25 minutes in. MJF was disqualified for low-blowing Bryan Danielson, which wasn't acknowledged by the bell. MJF then scored back-to-back pinfall wins, and a scoreboard was displayed on the screen. Bryce Remsburg took at least 20 seconds to count to nine. MJF caused a stir by shouting "you [expletive] suck!" at Bryan Danielson. Taz acted as a pro wrestling psychiatrist, dissecting MJF's insecurities during his outburst. MJF got another pinfall with a second-rope piledriver, and Danielson tied things up with an STF. By the 12-minute mark, this became the second match of the night with double juice, and MJF bled heavily. Despite excellent wrestling, the match lacked an engaging story that could have made it iconic. The match ended in a draw when MJF tapped out after the bell rang, and Tony Schiavone announced the match would continue under Sudden Death rules. MJF won the match when Bryan Danielson tapped out to the LeBell Lock.

MJF vs. Bryan Danielson Grade: A
