AICP Awards 2023 Shortlist, Nominations, and Judges

AICP Awards 

The AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) is a nonprofit organization in the United States that represents companies specializing in commercial production. Established in 1972, it has national offices in New York City and Los Angeles, as well as regional chapters. In 2018, the AICP merged with AICE (Association of Independent Creative Editors), a former trade association for post-production, under the AICP umbrella. The association advocates for and promotes independent production and post companies.

The primary objectives of the AICP are to distribute industry information, represent production and post companies in labor negotiations and with government officials, establish industry standards, and provide professional development opportunities. Each year, they organize two significant events at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City: The AICP Show, known as "The Art & Technique of the American Commercial," and The Next Awards, which recognize innovative marketing in emerging media. Works honored at The AICP Show receive high esteem within the advertising industry, and they are also archived in the Department of Film at MoMA.

In collaboration with the Directors Guild of America, the AICP introduced the Commercial Directors Diversity Program (CDDP) in 2016. This initiative aims to promote diversity and inclusion by raising awareness and increasing directing opportunities for women and other historically underrepresented groups in commercial directing. The program includes an annual showcase of participants' work, which was first presented in 2017. In subsequent years, the CDDP expanded to provide mentoring opportunities and workshops in addition to the showcase.

AICP Awards 2023 Judges

The AICP 2023 Awards will be overseen by the following individuals:

• Sally Campbell, founding partner of Somesuch, will serve as the AICP Show Chair.
• Greg Hahn, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Mischief, has been appointed as the AICP Next Awards Judging Chair.
• Jen Dean, Senior Editor of Cut+Run, will fulfill the role of AICP Post Awards Chair.

The AICP Awards go beyond the advertising industry's acknowledgment of their achievements. Every year, the winners of The AICP Show and The AICP Next are preserved in the archives of The Museum of Modern Art Department of Film. These records will be available for future generations to study and may also be exhibited by the museum's curators.
