Skull and Bones Treasure Map

The map in Skull and Bones is large, allowing for plenty of sailing and piracy. It features a fictionalized version of the Indian Ocean, with players exploring the shores and islands of Africa and the East Indies. Since much of the gameplay involves controlling your ship, the map is quite extensive, offering ample space for all your piracy activities. However, fully exploring the map will take some time. Skull and Bones map provides a detailed overview of the region, helping you plot your course and navigate, even if your in-game map is incomplete.

In Skull and Bones, you can do a classic pirate activity: follow treasure maps. These maps are a bit different—they're more like a fun extra activity than something you collect. Once you figure out how to solve them, it's pretty easy.

Where To Find Treasure Maps

You can get treasure maps in four ways: as a reward for finishing a contract, as part of a contract you have to solve, by sinking random ships, and by completing PvP and PvE events. You can only hold a few maps at once, so try to solve them as you get them. If a random ship has a treasure map, you'll see it in the loot list when you look at the ship through the Spyglass. Boarding an enemy ship gives you a small chance of getting a treasure map, even if that ship didn't have one.

How To Solve A Treasure Map

Solving treasure maps in Skull and Bones is easier than you might think. Each map has three clues. The first clue is written and usually gives the name of the location and nearby landmarks. The second clue is a map of the game world, which you can compare with the in-game map. The third clue is a picture showing where the treasure is buried at the outpost, with a visual landmark.

All treasure chests are found at outposts, so you need to go ashore to find them. Once you've figured out the general location from the map, sail to the outpost in that area. A notification will appear in-game when you disembark, confirming that the treasure is at that outpost.

After reaching the outpost, you'll need to search for the buried treasure using the landmark image from the map. When you're about 20 to 30 meters away from the treasure, it will start to glow orange, with a pillar of light rising from the ground. Simply move closer to the spot and you can dig up the treasure chest.

Skull and Bones Gameplay

Initially described as a tactical action game set in an open world, played from a third-person perspective, Skull and Bones lets players control a customizable pirate ship and sail the Indian Ocean in a single-player campaign or team up with up to five players in player versus player gameplay. Wind direction impacts battles, and players can acquire various ships with different armaments. Ships can be boarded and damaged, which is shown by a health bar.

Skull and Bones lets you captain your pirate ship, handling navigation, combat, and crew, much like Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's naval gameplay. There are three ship types—Navigation, Firepower, and Cargo—each with unique strengths, and all 12 available ships can be customized. It's crucial to keep your ship in good shape and your crew happy, as unhappy crews may mutiny. If your ship sinks, you'll respawn at the nearest Pirate Den with only some of your cargo recovered, requiring you to retrieve the rest while potentially encountering other players.

The game features wind positioning for strategic advantage, different ship types with distinct weapons, and the ability to board enemy ships. Players can also participate in treasure hunting in the multiplayer mode Loot Hunt and raid forts and settlements.
