Pacific Drive is a game where you try to survive in the Pacific Northwest. You can walk or drive a station wagon as you try to escape. The game is in first-person view, and you need to avoid metal monsters that stick to your car. You can fix and change your car in your garage.
The game's idea came from Alexander Dracott while he was driving through the Olympic Peninsula in 2019. He thought of making the game alone, but realized he needed help. He started building a team during the COVID-19 pandemic. They announced Pacific Drive in September 2022, and it came out for PlayStation 5 and Windows on February 22, 2024. Critics liked the game, especially its atmosphere, characters, and car design. But some said the gameplay was too repetitive and hard.

Pacific Drive is a game where you try to survive in the Pacific Northwest in the year 1998. You play from a first-person view, either walking or driving in a station wagon. You get to make your car better in your garage, which is like your home base. In the garage, you can check your car using a special headset, and sometimes you'll have to fix things like a honking horn or flat tires. The garage also has a cool Inventing Station that can make machines, discover new routes, add fuel to your car, and make the zone unstable.
While you're out in the world, your car can get attacked by metal monsters that chew on it. You can use a buzzsaw to get them off. There are also other challenges like electrical problems and barriers that mess with your car's electronics. The weather can also affect how your car handles.
As you explore, you might find crafting recipes and blueprints to upgrade your vehicle. You can also discover notes, audio logs, and talk to other characters to escape the Olympic Exclusion Zone. To move forward in the game, you need to collect energy cores in each level. But, when you do this, the world becomes more dangerous, with enemies attacking and a big storm starting.
